Change your breath from bad to good
Bad Breath / Halitosis
Bad breath is a common problem that can cause significant psychological distress. Anyone can suffer from bad breath and it’s estimated that 1 in 4 people have it on a regular basis. Halitosis – or chronic bad breath – is something that good oral hygiene can’t solve. Unlike bad breath, halitosis remains for an extended amount of time and may be a sign of something more serious.
6 potential causes of bad breath
-
Tobacco- Tobacco products cause a bad odor and dry out your mouth, which can make your breath smell even worse.
-
Food- The breakdown of food particles stuck in the teeth can cause odor. Some food such as onions and garlic can also cause bad breath.
-
Dry Mouth- Saliva naturally cleans the mouth. If the mouth is naturally dry, odors can build up.
-
Dental Hygiene- Brushing and flossing ensure the removal of small particles of food that can build up and slowly break down producing odor.
-
Crash Diets- Fasting and low-carbohydrate eating programs can cause bad breath.
Other chronic conditions- While halitosis is most often linked to something happening in your mouth, it may also be a sign of gastric reflux, diabetes, liver or kidney disease.
